Our Teachers

Allison Burke

Yoga gives me the space I need to breathe and be more present, more patient, and more compassionate with myself and others. As a teacher, I remain a constant student of the practice.
I continue to learn and grow through classes, workshops, and trainings led by the teachers that inspire me. In my classes, I hope to lead my students through a flow that meets them where they are and always encourage them to take the time to slow down, listen to their body, and their breath. Ultimately, yoga connects us to ourselves and to others. It becomes a part of us.

Allison is a 500 hour certified yoga teacher, 300 of those hours dedicated to Yin Yoga and a licensed Ayurvedic Health Counselor.

Ali Cummings

Ali started dancing at the age of two and it has been a part of her life for 25 years.  She has been teaching at her old studio for the last 6 years.  “Sharing my love of dance with kids and coming full circle in terms of being on the stage behind the curtain showed me a whole new perspective and gave me a new level of respect for my teachers.”

Ali has been a certified Pilates instructor since 2018.  She began her Pilates journey at Boston Pilates and taught at their Newton studio as well as their Waterfront studio and has been at Club Pilates since 2019.

Ali also works in healthcare.  She works in the OR at Tufts Medical Center where is has been an Anesthesia Technician since 2018.

Movement, creativity and mental wellness are a huge key to success in her life.  Most importantly, movement that helps connect your body and mind.

Carly Dammon

Carly values exercise rooted in mindfulness and intention.  Her love for connecting movement to breath and passion for curating performance-enhancing playlists creates an environment sure to induce some dopamine.  While her class is accessible to all levels, it will offer challenges and empower your entire body.  She loves to end her classes with a slow restorative stretch and breathwork and savasana.

Jess Taylor

Jess has been a dancer since the age of 5 and continues to incorporate her dance background into her adult life by practicing and teaching barre.  Jess loves the high energy and dynamic movements of barre that provide accessible strength training to all people, beginner or advanced.  By day, Jess is a software engineering manager, and loves that barre allows her to step into a more purposeful and mindful activity that challenges her each class.

Mikaela Macomber

Mikaela began her barre journey as a student in the summer of 2023.  Being a student inspired her to become a certified barre instructor.  Mikaela loves barre because it challenges people to be in-tune with their physical and mental well-being.  She likes to encourage her students to take class in a way that makes them feel safe, but also challenged at their own levels.  Teaching barre allows Mikaela to teach in a creative and body-affirming way.  When she’s not teaching, she loves finding the time to be a barre and yoga student herself.  Mikaela is very excited to be part of the Be the Light community!

Meghan Mitzel

Meghan has been a student of yoga for over 15 years. She signed up for a yoga course in college, thinking it would be an easy way to earn a few more credits, never guessing that she was actually embarking on what would become a lifelong, transformational journey. Over the years, this practice has helped her navigate anxiety and injury, and has also been a continuous source of joy and strength. She often says that yoga is the thing that keeps both her mind and body working properly. As a full time flight attendant working in a turbulent environment (in both the literal and figurative sense), the hours she spends grounding herself on her mat have become both sacred and simply necessary for her health and sanity!

Meghan enjoys teaching a well-rounded, alignment based class, focused on honoring what the body is able to do that day (every day is different!), in order to build a safe, sustainable yoga practice. She believes that yoga is for everybody and every body, and works to create a welcoming space for students of all ages and abilities. In addition to vinyasa flow, Meghan has a deep love of the slower, more grounded practices, such as yin and restorative. She completed her 200hr yoga teacher training in 2018 at YogaWorks Back Bay with Renee LeBlanc and Caitlyn Visconte, and her 300hr in 2022 at Boston Yoga Union with Tim Kelleher, Emily Jonas, and Caitlyn Visconte.
